State Department Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor
Housed within the State Department Office of the Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights, the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor focuses on issues including democracy, human rights, and religious freedom. The Bureau is responsible for putting out over 200 country reports each year on human rights practices, which each year since Trump took office have omitted a critical analysis on reproductive rights. Under the Trump administration, this bureau has been led by Assistant Secretary Robert Destro, who has a long history of attacking reproductive rights.
