DOJ Board of Immigration Appeals
The Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) is housed within DOJ’s Executive Office for Immigration Review. BIA is charged with reviewing appeals rendered by immigration judges and Department of Homeland Security district directors. Although most BIA decisions are subject to judicial review in federal courts, the board is the highest administrative body for interpreting and applying U.S. immigration laws. Precedents set by the BIA set the tone for asylum seekers fleeing countries that oppress reproductive freedom.
