"What a difference a year makes. From a health department that attacked, undermined and dismantled abortion and birth control access at every chance, to today, with Secretary Becerra stating that he has patients’ and providers’ backs.
Not only is HHS putting the power of its agency behind concrete solutions to alleviate some of the needs in Texas and its surrounding states, but it is also affirming that abortion providers and patients everywhere should be treated with dignity and respect. At an extremely dangerous moment for abortion access and reproductive rights in the United States, this is the type of federal leadership we need to protect and bolster the work of advocates and providers on the ground."
