Equity Forward Statement on Alex Azar’s Confirmation
01.24.18 – In response to the Senate confirmation of Alex Azar for Secretary of Health and Human Services, Equity Forward issued the following statement from executive director Mary Alice Carter:
“The Trump Administration has spent the past year stacking HHS with appointees who seem more set on burning the place down than running it well. Political appointees across HHS are running amok, taking aim at critical policies and programs upon which millions of Americans rely, particularly when it comes to reproductive health care. All we can say is good luck to Mr. Azar as he walks into the Hubert H. Humphrey Building, a place where transparency and accountability have thus far been shockingly absent.”
